Tracy Crowe McGonigle is an independent graphic designer/art director, community volunteer, native Angeleno, wife and mother of two. Passionate about graphic design Tracy believes that creating meaningful design not only communicates ideas but can make a positive difference in the world. Inspired and influenced by the bold serigraphs of Sister Corita Kent at Immaculate Heart High School Tracy decided to continue with a career in graphic design. Educated by some of the leading names in design she earned her BFA in Communication Arts from Otis/Parsons School of Design in 1984.

After graduating Tracy began work as a designer for Ralph Bennett and Associates where she developed her skills in architectural signage and marketing design on large developments such as, Promenade Towers and Los Angeles County Fairplex. In 1987 Tracy began working at the Los Angeles Times as a editorial features designer and art director. Over the next 13 years she managed tight deadlines and collaborated with teams of writers, editors and photographers. Her page design and art direction won numerous awards from the Society of Newspaper Design, Los Angeles Press Club, Print Magazine and the Los Angeles Times Editorial Awards.

While at the Times she was instrumental in converting the Food Section to digital page layout. The new "clippable" recipe format soon showed up in papers all across the country. Her close working relationship with photographers and editors enabled her to work on many special projects, including the Los Angeles Times cookbook.

In 2000 Tracy decided to leave the Times and work as Independent graphic design professional. She continued to build her career while balancing her growing family. Her versatility in graphic design enabled Tracy to meet all her client’s needs and to work on many types of projects. Current work includes event branding, corporate identity, publication, package label and book cover design. (Please see work images and list below.)

Because Tracy believes strongly in giving back to her community she has donated her graphic design services and expertise to organizations that would otherwise not be able to afford them. She has been instrumental in helping: Gateway to Art, St. Margaret’s Center and the GRCGLA-Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles.
